Bureau of Land Management eases fire restrictions


Sonora, Calif. – Recreational target shooting and campfires are once again permitted on 230,000 acres of Bureau of Land Management property in central California.

BLM’s Mother Lode field office reports that seasonal fire restrictions are easing due to wet weather and cooler temperatures. Campfires are permitted with a valid permit on public lands, unless otherwise noted.

The order covers 14 counties, including Tuolumne, Calaveras, Mariposa and Amador.

It should be noted that the easing of restrictions applies to BLM recreation areas along the American, Merced, Mokelumne, South Yuba and Tuolumne rivers. The fire restrictions were launched on June 6.
