Unique collectors, artists, makers, designers and food trucks come together to showcase and sell their work at the Beautiful Land Market.
Their fourth pop-up event of the season runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Downtown Ames Fareway parking lot.
Jody Bergan Bennett, Founder and Co-Director, described it as a uniquely curated marketplace filled with something for everyone, regardless of age and interests. She launched her first market, Lucky Star Market, in 2013, then took a break from the business. In 2018, she returned at the request of Ames residents. She renamed it Beautiful Land Market with the help of graphic designer Andrew Kingsbury, who is now her co-director. Kingsbury is also a market vendor who makes jewelry and other works of art.
“Our primary goal with these marketplaces is to bring people together and help small businesses and creative entrepreneurs,” Bennett said.
Friendship Ark Inc., a local non-profit organization that helps adults with developmental disabilities, will host their Bootique fundraiser at the event. Guests will be able to donate used Halloween costumes and purchase them for voluntary donation.
Tyler Miller will perform a mix of covers and classic songs, as well as his own music. Food truck vendors will include Sandwich Studio, Macubana, Stallie’s Sweets, Café El Zapote and Bean Caffeinated.
“Our pop-ups are a place to get inspired, shop local, celebrate the community and have fun,” Bennett said.
